Spécialisée dans les œuvres sur papier d’artistes contemporains, la galerie a sollicité Antoine Marquis et Frédéric Poincelet pour Paréidolie.
Complices de longues dates et tous deux empreints d’une forte culture du dessin, leurs échanges déclenchent comme une véritable émulation. Cette année, Antoine Marquis a réalisé une série autour de « La montagne sacrée » d'Alejandro Jodorowsky. Dans ses œuvres, dessins sur dos de toile, il explore la richesse visuelle et les différentes dimensions de ce film culte des années 70 : satire politique, grotesque, trivial, occultisme, érotisme. Il traduit ce cinéma aux multiples facettes par des compositions étranges, juxtapositions de saynètes empreintes d’un surnaturel de pacotille.
Une ambiance surnaturelle et fantastique, qui confine parfois à l’absurde, caractérise les dessins récents de Frédéric Poincelet. Avec son trait réaliste au stylo à bille, ses lavis d’encres et son goût pour le bizarre, il rebondit sur ce thème et guidé par l’esthétique psychédélique du film, travaille à de nouvelles œuvres pour le salon.

Specialised in works on paper by contemporary artists, the gallery called on Antoine Marquis and Frédéric Poincelet for Paréidolie. They have long worked together and are both imprinted with a strong culture of drawing, and discussions between the two form true emulation. This year, Antoine Marquis has made a series centred on Alejandro Jodorowsky's 'Holy Mountain'. In his works on the back of canvas he explores the visual richness and different dimensions of this 1970s cult film: political satire, the grotesque, the trivial, occultism and eroticism. He shows this many-facetted cinema using strange compositions, the juxtaposition of playlets with second-rate supernatural. An eerie weird atmosphere, sometimes limiting to the absurd, characterises Frédéric Poincelet's recent drawings. With realistic ballpoint lines, ink wash—plus his taste for the bizarre—he reacts to the themes and, guided by the psychedelic aesthetics of the film, is making new works for the Fair.
